#4 Kim kardashian and Kris Humpries

Kim Kardashian’s wedding reportedly cost $10 million: her dress, $1 million; the cake, $6,000. She was paid $1.5 million for her photos.

During an interview she sadid, “My wedding cost $3,000. My dress was made by my mother-in-law for less than $100. My cake? $60. I made $75 at the dollar dance at my reception. Kardashian’s marriage lasted 72 days. My husband and I are on our 11,278th day (and counting)”

Money obviously can’t buy happiness, although I am constantly astounded at how the rich and famous try. I’m guessing 99.9% of you reading this can think of better ways to spend $10 million.

Just what is it Kardashian is famous for again? What could she have done that possibly would warrant all this publicity and expense?

Here’s what I found out from Wikipedia:

Kardashian was introduced to the socialite scene by Paris Hilton. In 2007, Kardashian made a sex tape and appeared in Playboy. She starred with her family in the TV reality series “Keeping Up With The Kardashians.” She made a few TV appearances, one being the host of “Wrestlemania.” She owns a clothing boutique with two sisters and has done modeling and product endorsements. Her father defended O.J. Simpson at his murder trial. Her siblings are mostly models.

Am I missing something? She didn’t invent penicillin, transplant the first human heart or sacrifice her life so our country could be free. Those things are worth millions to me. How did Kardashian become so bankable that her wedding (and pending divorce) have become bigger news than the millions of Americans unable to find work or the fiscal fate of our country? Those things matter more than whether Kardashian married for money or love.

The fact is, millions of us are contributing to the fortune of this woman and her family. We are glued to the TV and tabloids, soaking up anything Kardashian. We do it for sports figures, too. This year, we saw and are seeing players and owners battling it out because the owners just cannot pay millions of dollars for their players anymore.
